BREAKFAST: THE MOST NEGLECTED MEAL

It has been part of our habit to
take alight breakfast and eat a heavy dinner. But at breakfast time, the
stomach is in better condition to take care more food than during dinner or
suppertime.
Breakfast can be categorized into
light, medium, or heavy meals. A light breakfast usually consists of one to
three food items, and is appropriate for average persons. A heavy breakfast
consists of five or six food items, and may be suitable for underweight
persons. Below is what each breakfast might consist of.

Common causes for not getting a
good breakfast include staying up late at night, taking a late supper,
laziness, lack of planning, poverty, or ignorance.
To solve breakfast problems, plan
and prepare a simple but nutritious food ahead time. If necessary, instruct the
helper on how and what to cook go to bed, and sleep early.
A good breakfast can furnish
energy, protein, vitamins, and minerals enough for the body’s needs; help make
one alert, efficient, resistant to fatigue; stabilize blood sugar level so
there is less desire to overeat later in the day; increase sense of well-being.
It can also bring out better work performance, decrease in the desire to eat
better between meal, an ideal weight, and better disposition.
